Sony KDL32D3000U Model Name + Specs
A lot of people have asked me what's the difference between KDL32D3000U and KDL32D3000? You'll be pleased to know that there's no difference whatsover when it comes to appearance and specification... the extra letter "U" simply means that the model is being sold in the UK market.
The Sony KDL32D3000U has a native resolution of 1366x768, which is actually ideal for a 32-inch LCD TV, because limitation in our visual acuity prevents us from being able to appreciate any higher resolution until you sit with your nose touching the screen. This is suitable for a watching distance of about 6 feet away.
The KDL32D3000U also boasts three HDMI input, which is ample by today's standards. If possible you should try and connect your devices through HDMI because the signal is digital in nature and does not degrade as easily as analogue signals like component and VGA where better cables are more important.
Compared to its closest competitor, Panasonic TX32LXD700 (which has received lots of complaints of high pitched buzzing), the Sony KDL32D3000 is almost silent in operation. If you stand at the back of the TV with ears on the unit you will detect some faint electronic buzz, but sit far enough and you won't even hear it.
Clouding was a major issue that affected previous generation of Sony Bravia LCD TVs. For those of you who don't know what is clouding, these are patches of uneven backlight on the screen. Fortunately Sony has improved their production quality and no clouding can be detected on the Sony KDL32D3000.
